Sinai Free Synagogue is a multi-generational community devoted to lifelong learning.
Sinai Free Synagogue’s diverse creative educational community is having a special Open House on Sunday, December 17th, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 as we celebrate Chanukah. Come join us as we spend an hour socializing, eating, and playing dreidel! We welcome new families to take part in this festive event and learn more about our special temple. Children can help make latkes and chocolate lollipops, play dreidel, eat donuts, and create frames for photos we will take during the hour long celebration. St. Francis to hold candlelight Christmastime service
Prepare for the joy of Christmas Connecticut-style! Everyone is invited to the annual Lessons and Carols candlelight service at the historic St. Francis church. The program is a beautiful rendition of the classic Anglican service. Its setting in the quaint and quintessential 1834 New England chapel makes the service a seasonal favorite. There is something for every member of the family: favorite carols, classic readings, the magic of candlelight and the Christmas story. Seats are limited so come early. A festive reception follows in the parish rectory adjacent to the historic church.
“#MeToo” is the theme of the Sunday, December 17 services at The Unitarian Church in Westport.
The reality is that most all women have experienced sexual harassment, abuse and denigration. Rev. John Morehouse’s sermon will address the issue of sexual harassment from a faithful perspective.
Why is that women have so long been abused and ignored in our society? What role does religion play in this system of oppression? And how can we as women and men find a way for women to be heard safely and healing to begin? Our service, organized by women members of the congregation, will include the prophetic voices of women past and present as well as a healing ritual for all women so hurt.
