Join us for an evening of family fun by the firelight. Start by learning the tricks of building a safe fire that matches your needs, from survival situation to s’mores creation. Discover the world of bushcraft wilderness survival techniques as you enjoy marshmallows and a story by the fire. Families can expect to explore different fire making techniques while learning how the mastery of fire altered human history and how survival skills can apply to problem solving in everyday life.
We’ll be meeting on the Hawk Watch Lawn in front of the Main Center building.

Ever wonder what the animals do when the farmers go home? Join us for a special after-hours tour of Heckscher Farm and visit with some of your favorite animals after the gates close. We’ll go in-pasture with our goats, see where the horses and sheep sleep, give a treat to our llamas, and more. We’ll end our tour with a cup of hot, local apple cider! Recommended for 4 and up. New Canaan Country School will host an event specifically designed for young explorers (ages 4-6) and their parents, Saturday, Oct. 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Wonder of Worms will include a walk through some of the school’s 30-acre woodland trails as well as a visit to the Exploratory Lab, where science teachers will guide children in an adventure of discovery. These activities are intended for young explorers (ages 4-6) and their parents. The event is free of charge, but registration is required for headcount and gift bag. Fantastic family Halloween event ! New for 2017 is a giant bouncy castle, the Jester Jim Show and the “Captain Charlini’s” incredible Pirate magic show. Don’t miss the live music by the “Greetings from Anywhere” band.
