Back by popular demand, we’re at it again with round two of the Mill River Park Cornhole League, Spring edition! Wednesday evenings May 24th – June 28th from 6pm-8pm we will be meeting on the Carousel Lawn for beer, fun, and competition. We will be teaming up with our friends at Half Full Brewery, serving discounted beer (and snacks) to you and your teammates. 5 weeks of regular competition will come to a head in week 6 for the playoffs, finals, and a summer barbecue celebration on June 28th! A storewide sale of adult fiction & all children’s and young adult books begins June 3 at the Friends of the PPLD’s Used Book Store. The annual sale ends June 29.

Just in time for summer reading, hardcover adult fiction books are 50 cents; oversize paperbacks, 25 cents; and paperbacks, 10. Children’s & young adult hardcover books are 25 cents & all paperbacks are 10 cents. Store hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

For the last 30 years, the Women’s Distance Festival 5K has been the #1 women’s only running or walking event in Rockland County, and has become a premier event in New York State. The race will be followed by a Party in the Park festival featuring vendors, food trucks, beer and wine sales and more. Participation in the 5K is open to women and girls only, but all are welcome to attend the Party in the Park. Free Kids Fun Run is open to children of any gender. Proceeds from the Women’s Distance Festival benefit Center for Safety & Change programs and services for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and all crimes.

Can’t make it at 12 pm? Join us anytime up until 2:00pm!

Join us at the Somers Library to make your own beaded earrings and make additional pairs to donate. For example, for every pair of earrings you make for yourself, you will also make the same amount to be donated to a local women’s shelter.* This program is free and is intended for teens 5th grade and up as well as their parents. *Since this workshop benefits a women’s shelter, it could be
considered for community service hours.
