On Saturday, June 16, cyclists of all skill levels will ride through scenic Fairfield and Westchester Counties as part of the only charity bike ride benefiting Connecticut Veterans. The RIDE For Our Vets offers four route options to appeal to cyclists of all experience levels, plus a 5K walk open to all. We offer rest stops every 12 to 16 miles, ample route marking, safety monitors at tricky intersections, bike techs and sweep vans if you need them. No matter what route you choose, we will take care of you!
Why participate in The RIDE? Because Connecticut veterans need you. Homeless veterans identify legal problems as five of their top ten unmet needs. The Connecticut Veterans Legal Center (CVLC) helps veterans recovering from homelessness and mental illness to overcome legal barriers to housing, healthcare and income. The funds raised through The RIDE go directly to CVLC’s life-changing work.
Register for The RIDE For Our Vets today at www.rideforourvets.org and change a Connecticut veteran’s life!
Riders and walkers pay a $75 registration fee (waived for veterans) and must raise a minimum of $200. Volunteer crew registration is free.
About the Routes:
100-Mile Route The Old Glory Route: Possibly the most scenic century ride in the Northeast. This challenging route takes you through beautiful Pound Ridge, NY and the western Connecticut backwoods, with long stretches of country lanes and a loop around the peerless Saugatuck Reservoir.
BRAND NEW! 62-Mile Route The Metric Century: Head for the hills on this beautiful and challenging route. You’ll ride north to Ridgefield on a route you’ll share with the 100-milers, then split off onto a series of “scenic roads” as identified by signs liberally posted on these backcountry roads. Enjoy the views!
50-Mile Route The Reservoir Ramble: This hilly route, studded with crystal-clear reservoirs, traverses suburban and back country roads. Bring your camera!
25-Mile Route The Stamford Loop: Stamford’s more than corporate headquarters! You’re in for a treat on this tour of leafy Fairfield County. Cozy neighborhoods, park views and abundant greenery await.
5K Family Friendly Walk: Not inclined to ride? Walk instead! Explore Old Greenwich on a short, community building stroll.
The 10th Annual Sleepy Hollow Sprint Triathlon is a half-mile swim in the Hudson River commencing at Kingsland Point Park in Sleepy Hollow, a 10-mile scenic bike ride through the legendary village and a 3-mile run along the new and improved Hudson River Walk. Over 500 individuals and teams are expected participate in this event. We expect an audience of over 1,500 to attend. This year net proceeds will benefit the mission of Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley.
Join The Mental Health Association of Westchester for an empowering and energetic community-driven mega-yoga event featuring mindfulness, meditation, movement and music on Wednesday, June 20th in downtown White Plains.
