Play With Your Food opens its 16th season of lunchtime theater in January in Westport, Fairfield and Greenwich with riveting one-act plays read by professional actors, many of whom hail from Broadway and off B’way. Westport’s season opens on January 9, 10 & 11, at Toquet Hall in Westport (58 Post Road East). Westport’s lunches will be catered by Rory’s Restaurant. Fairfield’s season opener on January 16, at Fairfield Theatre Company (70 Sanford Street), will be catered by The Pantry. And on January 24 & 25, at Greenwich Arts Council (299 Greenwich Avenue), lunches will be catered by Meli Melo. All doors open at noon beginning with lunch, followed by the playreadings and a discussion with the actors and director from 12:30–1:30 pm. January plays in Westport and Fairfield include Pulitzer Prize & Tony Award winning playwright Frank D. Gilroy’s Getting In (his autobiographically humorous and heartwarming tale of his rise from high school dropout to WWII G.I. all the way to the Ivy League); Scott Mullen’s comedic take on grown-ups finding their way back to The Sandbox; and Deborah Frockt’s Hard-Boiled, a relevant look at politics in the workplace. Rich Vos is a no-holds-barred performer who destroys in comedy clubs around the country. A comedian’s comedian, he can be heard regularly on Opie and Jimmy and as a guest on the most popular podcasts including WTF with Marc Maron. Rich also has his own hit podcast (on Riotcast Network) and a radio show (on Sirius) both called My Wife Hates Me. (That’s not confusing.) His co-host is his wife, comedian Bonnie McFarlane. Rich can be seen on HBO, Showtime, Starz, Jimmy Kimmel and Comedy Central where he has two stand-up specials. Rich Vos can also be seen in the hit Netflix movie Women Aren’t Funny which he also produced. As a comedy writer, he’s come up with the best lines for the Comedy Central Roasts and was a writer this year on the Oscars for the second time.
Ron Bennington – Finding comedy in everything and everything in comedy. Ron Bennington has been a stand-up comedian and comedy club owner and promoter. He’s also been part of two legendary radio shows, The Ron and Ron Radio Network and the Ron and Fez Show. All of that experience comes together for Bennington. Three hours of talk entertainment with nationally known comedians. His co-host is Gail Bennington who has literally grown up in the business of comedy. It’s fun, edgy and covers everything in comedy today. What ESPN is to sports, Bennington is to comedy.
Jim Florentine is a stand-up comedian, TV host, actor, podcaster and voice artist. He is best known for co-hosting VH1 Classic’s heavy metal talk show series “That Metal Show” that ran from 2008-2015. Florentine is also known for his work on Comedy Central’s show Crank Yankers where he performed the voice of Special Ed and Bobby Fletcher. Recently, he has appeared in the hit movie Trainwreck as the one-night stand guy and on the critically acclaimed TV series Inside Amy Schumer and Louie on FX. He was submitted for an Emmy for best supporting actor for his role of Kenny on Louie.
